Manitoba Building Code - Regional sensivity

Many of the Manitoba Building Code's insulation requirements for foundations, walls, floors and attics are sensitive to regional climate. This makes sense given that the heating season is more severe in Northern Manitoba than in the south.

For administrative purposes Manitoba is divided into two climatic regions:

• Southern Manitoba (Zone A) south of the 53rd Parallel
• Northern Manitoba (Zone B) at or north of the 53rd Parallel.
