A well designed and solidly built house envelope

Insulation

Good overall insulation leaves no cold spots on the interior surface of your home for condensation to begin and fuel mold growth.

Airtight Seal

An airtight seal of the building envelope not only eliminates air leakage that causes cold interior surfaces, but allows you to preheat, filter, and control the amount of all incoming fresh air. It also limits warm moist interior air exfiltration into wall and ceiling assemblies where it can condense and fuel mold growth.

Building a new home without incorporating R-2000 air sealing techniques allows exterior air to enter and leave your home from random uncontrolled locations, through electrical receptacles, pot lights, below bottom wall plates, etc. Exterior air entering in these locations may be very cold and dry and contain contaminants such as dust and pollen - all having a negative impact on comfort and IAQ.

By providing an air tight building envelope and bringing in the required fresh ventilation air at one location through a heat recover ventilator, you have the ability to control the amount of ventilation air brought in to match the lifestyle requirements of your family. Particulates are filtered out of the air before entering your home. Heat is reclaimed from exhaust air to preheat the incoming fresh air and that fresh air is evenly distributed to all rooms in the house.
