Install a good air filtration system

A heat recovery ventilation system only changes a portion of the air in the house on a regular basis. An air filtration system is required to clean airborne particulates out of the remaining portion of household air which gets heated or cooled and recirculated around all rooms in the house.

Standard furnace filters do little more than remove large particles of lint or animal dander, which may harm the furnace fan blower. Smaller airborne particles which are breathed in and effect our respiratory systems, need higher performance filters.

For superior IAQ, R-2000 Homes upgrade their air filtration system to one of the following options:

Good: Medium efficiency pleated filters
Better: Electrostatic air filters, HEPA filters
Best: Electronic or turbulent flow precipitator type filters

Because higher efficiency air filters do a better job of filtering out particulates, they get dirtier faster and tend to need cleaning or replacement more often. A good filtration system needs regular maintenance to maintain its operation at highest and healthiest efficiencies.
